航天模型，顧名思義是仿航天器外形制作的一種可回收模型，隸屬于航空航天模型，是供運動用的一種不載人的飛行器，其動力為模型火箭發(fā)動機，即一種微型固體火箭發(fā)動機。由于航天模型多呈火箭狀，故通稱模型火箭。

Therefore, designing and manufacturing model rockets requires a variety of knowledge, such as aerodynamics, rocket flight mechanics, etc.

要研究模型火箭在空氣中飛行的穩(wěn)定性和空氣對它的阻力；要分析火箭的飛行軌跡，計算它的飛行高度；有條件時，還可以對模型火箭進行風洞試驗，確定火箭最佳外形；進行模型火箭發(fā)動機靜態(tài)性能測試試驗，測量推力和工作時間，計算總沖量。

To study the stability of model rockets flying in the air and the resistance of the air to them; To analyze the flight trajectory of a rocket and calculate its altitude; When conditions permit, wind tunnel tests can also be conducted on the model rocket to determine the optimal shape of the rocket; Conduct static performance testing tests on model rocket engines, measure thrust and operating time, and calculate total impulse.

在發(fā)達國家的一些高等學校里，在理工科有關的課程上，甚至一些中學的物理課上，教師們經(jīng)常以模型火箭作為講課的題材，并在此基礎上指導學生開展一些課題研究和模型火箭的制作。
